Working in Partnership With Families
The Giving Every Child the Best Start in Life strategy highlights that strong parent partnerships are central to children’s success because families are a child’s “first and most important teachers.” The document explains that children thrive when parents, carers, and professionals work together to provide consistent support, nurturing relationships, and positive early experiences. It emphasises that the early years are critical for brain development, communication, emotional wellbeing, and learning, and that these outcomes are strongest when parents are actively involved in their child’s development.
The strategy also recognises that parents need trusted guidance, encouragement, and accessible services to help them support their children effectively. Through family hubs and integrated services, the government aims to strengthen partnerships between families, early years settings, health professionals, and communities so that children receive joined-up support both at home and in educational settings. This collaborative approach helps children feel secure, develop confidence, and achieve better outcomes socially, emotionally, and academically.
At Park Road Academy, we fully embrace this vision and recognise that building strong partnerships with parents and carers is fundamental to ensuring every child thrives. As a primary school with both a nursery and reception provision, we understand the importance of establishing positive relationships with families from the very beginning of a child’s educational journey. We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where parents feel valued, listened to, and actively involved in their child’s learning and development.
Through regular communication, learning together sessions, parent/carer workshops, parent consultations, transition opportunities, and shared learning experiences, Park Road Academy will work closely with families to ensure consistency between home and school. Our early years staff will support parents in understanding child development, early communication, reading, wellbeing, and school readiness so that children receive the best possible start in life. By fostering trust, collaboration, and open dialogue, we aim to build a strong community where children feel safe, supported and confident to achieve their full potential.
Family Hubs are places in our community where children, young people and families can get support.
