Live Performances

At Park Road Academy, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience the joy, creativity and achievement that music can bring. Performing helps children to develop confidence, resilience, self-expression, discipline and teamwork, while listening to professional musicians broadens their horizons, deepens their musical understanding and inspires them to recognise what they might achieve. Our provision reflects the ambitions of the DfE’s National Plan for Music Education, which states that all children should have opportunities to sing, learn an instrument, create music together, perform and experience live music.

Every child at Park Road has the opportunity to sing in a performance for their school and families at least once each year, perform as part of an ensemble in assembly, take part in our annual musical talent show and listen to high-quality live performances, including our recent visit from a professional saxophonist. Children learn tuned percussion in Year 2, recorders in Year 4 and ukulele in Year 5, while our choir members have the opportunity to perform at Tesco, the Altrincham Lights Switch-On, Newhaven Care Home and for over many years we have performed at Young Voices.
