Getting active, having fun and trying something new together!

At Park Road Academy, we know how important being active is for children’s physical health, wellbeing, confidence and happiness. We are therefore delighted to be supporting the Government’s Let’s Move! campaign.

More than half of children in England are currently not achieving the recommended amount of daily physical activity. Children and young people are encouraged to work towards an average of at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, but getting active does not have to mean joining a sports team or being the fastest, strongest or best.

The message behind Let’s Move! is simple:

Give it a go. Try something new. Move together. Have fun!

Even starting with just 10 minutes of activity can help children build towards being more active each day.

🌟 Are you part of the Let's Move Club?

We are encouraging our Park Road families to try some new ways of moving together at home. The activities are designed to be simple, fun and accessible, and you do not need lots of equipment or sporting experience to join in.

🤝 The Swap Move

Create a movement and challenge someone else to copy it before swapping roles. How creative can your moves become?

🔎 The Movement Memory Game

Build a sequence of different movements, adding a new action each time. Can your family remember the whole sequence?

🎵 Soundtrack Statues

Put on some music and get moving! When the music stops, freeze in a pose and challenge yourself to balance.

📚 Story Movers

Choose a favourite character or story and bring it to life through movement. Think about how your character might travel, react and behave.

These activities support much more than physical fitness. They can help children develop balance, coordination, creativity, communication, teamwork, confidence and resilience, while providing families with an opportunity to have fun together.
