At Park Road Academy, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to dream big, explore possibilities and recognise that their future is full of potential. Through our partnership with Unifrog, we deliver an ambitious, progressive and carefully sequenced spiral careers curriculum from Reception to Year 6, designed to broaden horizons, raise aspirations and challenge stereotypes from an early age.

Our spiral approach ensures that children revisit key themes throughout their primary education, building progressively on their knowledge, skills and understanding as they mature. In the Early Years, children begin by exploring the people who help us, different occupations and the importance of individual strengths and interests.

As they progress through Key Stages 1 and 2, they develop a deeper understanding of the world of work, the skills and qualities valued in different professions, the relationship between curriculum subjects and future careers, and the importance of teamwork, communication, resilience, creativity and problem-solving. Unifrog provides engaging, age-appropriate lessons, interactive activities, career profiles, videos and real-world scenarios, with learning mapped to the Career Development Institute (CDI) framework.

Importantly, the curriculum encourages children to question gender and social stereotypes, appreciate the diversity of career pathways and understand that their background or circumstances should never limit their ambitions. This structured learning is enriched by our Career of the Month, annual Careers Convention, employer encounters, educational visits, curriculum-linked career experiences and practical masterclasses, allowing children to connect classroom learning with the wider world.

Through Unifrog, we can also record and evaluate children's careers-related experiences, identify gaps in provision and celebrate their developing aspirations. Our ultimate ambition is not to encourage children to choose a career at primary-school age, but to ensure that every child leaves Park Road Academy with an expanding sense of possibility, an understanding of their own potential and the confidence to believe that no career is beyond their reach.
