This week, we enjoyed a hands-on investigation to discover whether the surface area of a shape affects the amount of air resistance. We designed and tested parachutes of different sizes to observe how changing the surface area influenced how quickly they fell.

We then explored water resistance, investigating whether the shape of an object affects the resistance it experiences in water. Through testing and observation, we compared how different shapes moved through the water and discussed why some experienced more resistance than others.
