Music - Rainforest Body Percussion
In Music, Year 4 have been exploring body percussion and linking it to the sounds of the rainforest. The children experimented with using claps, clicks, stamps and pats to create layers of sound, just like the many noises you would hear in a rainforest.
They also learnt how to develop their understanding of higher and lower sounds, working together in groups to build rhythmic patterns. This activity encouraged great teamwork and creativity, with the class combining their ideas to form impressive rainforest soundscapes. The children were also able to expand this knowledge and understanding of tempo and pitch into a looping piece composed on a glockenspiel!
