Reading Photo Gallery
Reading is embedded across our entire curriculum, ensuring that every subject contributes to building strong literacy skills. From exploring rich texts in English to interpreting sources in History, word problems in Maths, and complex instructions in Science and Technology, pupils engage with high-quality reading every day. Alongside this, we actively nurture a love of reading for pleasure through access to diverse, exciting texts, dedicated reading time and opportunities to share and celebrate books. Our goal is for every child to leave us not only a confident reader, but a lifelong lover of books.

Classroom Bookshops
We are delighted to offer a fully stocked Book Shop in each classroom, giving pupils the freedom to choose reading material that genuinely excites them. This initiative is closely aligned with the Department for Education’s reading curriculum, which emphasises the importance of daily reading, a rich reading environment and children’s autonomy in choosing texts. Pupils can browse a wide selection of genres, authors and styles, selecting books that reflect their interests and interests to grow a lifelong passion for reading.
We organise and band our books across the whole school using recognised benchmarking materials to ensure that every pupil is reading texts that are appropriately matched to their stage of development. This consistent approach supports clear progression in reading, provides structure for guided and independent reading, and helps staff to accurately support and challenge pupils as they move through increasingly complex texts. By combining this structured system with choice and enjoyment, we ensure children develop both strong reading skills and confidence as readers.
