Summer Term 2

Have a look at what our sports teams have been up to during the last half-term of the year.

Euro’s Football Tournament – 27.06.25

Park Road Academy took part in this year’s Euro’s-themed Football Tournament, facing off against a strong line-up of local schools. The team began the group stage in emphatic fashion, producing a dominant 8-0 win over Park Road Sale A. This was followed by two tightly contested 1-1 draws against both Worthington and Woodheys, before finishing the group with a well-earned 2-0 victory over St Vincent’s B.

Despite being level on points at the end of the group stage, Park Road finished 2nd on goal difference, progressing to the semi-finals.

In the semi-final, the team narrowly lost 2-1 to Park Road Sale B in a hard-fought match, which saw some excellent football from both sides.

The third-place playoff saw Park Road take on Worthington once more, with the game ending in a 0-0 draw. With no penalties played, both teams agreed to share 3rd place—a fair outcome for two very evenly matched sides.

A brilliant effort from all involved and another proud performance from the Park Road squad!

Year 3/4 Tennis Tournament – 24.06.25

On a day where the weather proved particularly challenging—with strong winds and a wet, slippery surface underfoot—Park Road Academy’s Year 3/4 tennis team showed great resilience and determination during the Trafford Schools Tennis Tournament.

The team got off to a strong start with a 3-1 win over Well Green A, demonstrating excellent control despite the conditions. This was followed by a tightly contested 2-2 draw with Springfield B, which Park Road edged in a nail-biting tie-breaker 24-22.

Another tough draw followed against Brooklands A, with the match again going to a tie-break. This time, Park Road narrowly missed out 17-18, but showed superb spirit and sportsmanship throughout.

Into the semi-finals, the team faced a strong Tyntesfield side and, despite their best efforts, were defeated 1-3. In the third-place playoff, Park Road had a rematch with Brooklands A. After another close 2-2 draw, the tie-break again just slipped away from them 20-22.

Despite missing out on a medal position, finishing 4th out of 8 was a fantastic achievement in tough weather conditions. Well done to all the children who represented the school with pride and perseverance!

Dynamos Cricket Tournament at Timperley Sports Club

On Thursday 19th June, Park Road Academy's cricket team took part in the Dynamos Cricket Tournament at Timperley Sports Club, competing against several local schools throughout a full day of cricket.

In the group stage, the team performed admirably and finished 3rd in their group, with the following results:

  • Park Road 73 – 101 St. Vincent’s

  • Park Road 99 – 66 Elmridge

  • Park Road 92 – 87 Broadheath

  • Park Road 83 – 126 Bowdon Church

After progressing into the play-off round, the team gave it their all once more in a spirited effort but were defeated by Navigation Road, with the final score 76 – 110.

Despite not reaching the final stages, the team demonstrated great enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day. Well done to all involved for representing Park Road so brilliantly!
