Governing Body Overview

The Governing Body holds delegated powers from the Trust, serving as a vital link between the Trust, teaching staff, and the local community. Its composition includes parent governors elected through a secret ballot, one teacher governor, one non-teaching staff governor elected by the staff, and the Headteacher. Additionally, three governors are co-opted from the local community, with a specific focus on local business representation.

The Governors bear a general responsibility for establishing policies and ensuring effective school management within the parameters outlined by national legislation. However, the day-to-day operations of the school fall under the control of the Headteacher(s).

Key areas of responsibility for the Governing Body encompass school finance, the upkeep and utilisation of school premises, the appointment of the Headteacher(s) and other staff, determination of school hours and holidays, oversight of the curriculum, pupil admissions, discipline matters, and the suspension of students.

Regular meetings, occurring at least once a term, facilitate the governance process. Ultimately, the Governors are accountable to the Trustees and the Department of Education for the school's overall operation. Embracing the ethos of the school partnership at Park Road, the Governing Body operates voluntarily, working tirelessly for the benefit of the school, with the well-being of the pupils at the forefront.
