Park Road Sparkles
Park Road Sparkles is a Nurture Group based in our mobile classroom. Nurture is important for the development of wellbeing. A nurturing classroom has a planned routine to provide a predictable, reliable structure in which the children feel safe and cared for, so that they begin to trust the adults, to explore and to learn.
1:1 support can be delivered in a smaller learning environment to encourage children to engage in a small group. 1:1 support is also provided in the classroom.
Trips within the local area have been arranged to promote communication and social skills and prepare the children for the transition to high school.
Children attend an end of the year ‘play and picnic’ afternoon. This is a trip to the local park to enjoy a game of kwik cricket and a picnic.
What is Pupil Premium?
Publicly-funded schools in England get extra funding from the government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils.

The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress and the exam results they achieve.
The DFE has given us the freedom to use the Pupil Premium as we see fit, based on the knowledge of our pupils’ needs.
How is the funding spent at Park Road?
Pupil Premium has already proven to be a huge success over the years, with positive impact made on the children’s social and academic progress. Park Road Academy believe that the funding should be used directly to support the development of the children and to date have provided many resources including IPads, well- being games and activities, extra -curricular activities and 1:1 tuition.
Eligible children will receive a minimum of 1 hour per week 1:1 extra tuition, allowing them to gain valuable support and guidance in specific areas. Each session is tailored specifically to the child’s needs and abilities. The lessons works alongside the class objectives, so children are not missing out on vital whole class learning.
