Year 5's Musician of the Spring Term is Claudi Monteverdi (1567 - 1643) was an Italian composer, choirmaster and string player. A composer of both secular and sacred music, and a pioneer in the development of opera, he is considered a crucial transitional figure between the Renaissance and Baroque periods of music history.

Year 5's Musician of the Autumn Term is Handel (1685 - 1759 ) Handel was born in Germany and took up music after his father died - his dad had wanted him to be a lawyer. When his studies were finished, Handel couldn't find work so he travelled to Italy and met a very famous composer there called Corelli. Click on the link below to find out more.
